As part of a course assignment, Hypnos Hotel in Central London blends sustainability, British heritage, and community connection. The redesign retains original architectural features while introducing modern elements in the reception area and executive suite, emphasising openness, comfort, and inclusivity.
Sustainable choices include zero-VOC paints, bamboo wood, antique furnishings, and UK-made products. The lobby features an open, light-filled layout with community-focused spaces and local artwork. A refined yet traditional aesthetic is achieved through rich materials like velvet, marble, and dark woods, paired with classic prints and a colour palette of burgundy, navy, dark green, gold, and off-white.
Custom, ergonomic furniture ensures comfort and accessibility, while layered lighting enhances atmosphere. The executive suite offers luxury and privacy with plush seating, a kitchenette, and a spa-inspired bathroom. The overall design creates a warm, elegant, and timeless experience rooted in local culture.
